Error Opening DBF file

Postby Graham » Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:41 am

Hi

I am evaluating your product with the view of using it to export DBF files to SQL Server...

However, I am having problems opening the attached files with your app...

Some columns contain Thai characters which I can view successfully with the 'Simple DBF Browser' applciation... STMAS, APMAS for example

Can you please advise what the problem is...

Regards
Graham

Hi Graham, thanks for your question!
We'll review your files ASAP.
By the way, are these tables in proper codepage on SQL Server after you've exported them?

Hi Graham, sorry about delay.
Since DBF Commander Professinal is a non-Unicode program yet, you need to change your system locale to Thai (Thailand) in order to view Thai symbols.
Please, do the following:
Control Panel -> Clock, Language, and Region -> Region and Language -> Administrative -> Change system locale... -> Thai (Thailand)

Your DBF files data are in correct Thai charset. So, when you'll change system locale, you'll can to view your data properly at SQL Server too.
It looks like Simple DBF Browser supports Unicode, thats why the data are displayed properly without changing system locale.
We are planning to add Unicode support to DBF Commander Professional at 3.0 version.

Best regards,

Hard to say, maybe winter or spring of the next year. The more users'll ask for Unicode support - the faster we'll implement it. :)

Hi Graham!

We're preparing now the new version of DBF Commander Professional. The feature you've requested was implemented:
* Added a possibility to change the grid's charset (without changing Windows locale settings)

New version will be released at the September.
Best regards,
